Fyfe arrives in France, hopes bodies can be found

Two bodies recovered from the scene of the Air New Zealand Airbus crash off the coast of France are still to be identified, but the airline is hoping the remains of all seven killed can be found.

Five of the seven killed in the A320 crash were New Zealanders and today Air NZ chief executive Rob Fyfe arrived in Perpignan with the partner of one of them, Murray White, and his mother.

"The reason I'm here is on behalf of the families and Air New Zealanders because we want to bring our boys home," Mr Fyfe told reporters.

Mr Fyfe and his party arrived at night after a 30-hour flight from Auckland. A cockpit voice recorder from the Airbus has been recovered by French search and rescue divers.

The voice recorder appeared to be in good condition and could provide crucial evidence of the last moments of the crew onboard before the A320 plunged into the sea.

Air New Zealand international airline manager Ed Sims said the voice recorder would be sent to Paris tomorrow where it would be dried before the process of extracting the data began.
