Labour leader Phil Goff says his party will present "constructive opposition" as the new government works to strengthen the economy and protect New Zealand from the impact of the international financial crisis.
Prime Minister John Key and his senior ministers have been focused on the economy since the election, and Mr Goff said today it was Labour's top priority as well.
"We're facing difficult economic conditions internationally," he said on TV One's Agenda programme.
"The economy is the driver of living standards, of social services. We'll be focused on that."
Mr Goff said while Labour would be constructive and help the Government achieve economic growth, it would strongly oppose National in other areas.
