MĀORI art MARKet 2009

Presented in association with Pātaka Museum of Arts and Cultures, Te Rauparaha Arena - Porirua City and Toi Māori Aotearoa, the MĀORI art MARKet 2009 is a celebration of the best of contemporary Māori art.

MĀORI art MARKet promises to be bigger and better than both the San Francisco 'Māori Art Meets America' project in 2005, as well as ‘MĀORI MARKet 2007’ in Wellington city.

October 9th – 11th at Pātaka Museum and Te Rauparaha Arena, Porirua City.

This prestigious contemporary Māori art exhibition will be host to artist debates, presentations and a sensational opening gala evening. Indigenous fashion designer Dorothy Grant's latest collection, hot of the New York fashion week runway, will be stepping out each day.

We have nine guest artists which include leading Native American, First Nations Canada, Pacific Islands and New Zealand artists. This emphasis on the artist is a key difference between this gathering and other Art Fairs. MĀORI art MARKet is a time for the public to meet the artists, see them working, and for the artists to discuss and debate the issues of today.

The MĀORI art MARKet event is led by a unique partnership between Toi Māori Aotearoa and Porirua city.
