The Electoral Enrolment Centre is rating the election as a record breaker.
It has released figures on voter enrolment which show 2.99 million people or 95.31 percent enrolled. The figure was slightly higher than 2005.
There were more than 405,000 Maori enrolled on the Maori and general rolls, 29,000 more than in 2005.
The number of enrolled overseas voters also increased. Sixty thousand were on the electoral roll compared with the just over 43,000 recorded three years ago.
