Kiwi Tamils to hold vigils throughout New Zealand on 4th February for Sri Lanka conflict

As Kiwi Tamil community is in utter despair and is desperate for peace in the Vanni region of northern Sri Lanka, Kiwi Tamils will be holding vigils throughout New Zealand on February 04.

According to Mani Maniparathy of Wellington Tamil Society,The vigils have two purposes. First is to show solidarity with the victims in northern Sri Lanka and to take the message to the wider public in New Zealand.

"The Sri Lankan government has no right to stop the UN and international aid agencies from having full access to the trapped, starving and dying civilians in the Vanni region of northern Sri Lanka." , Maniparathy said.

HE added Kiwi Tamils are calling on the New Zealand government to support the call of many other governments that the Sri Lankan government allow the United Nations and international aid agencies to have full and immediate access to the trapped civilians.

4th February Vigil Details:
Auckland: 12:00 noon – 5:00 pm, Aotea square (Queen Street)
Wellington: 12:00 noon – 2:00 pm, Queens Wharf / procession to Parliament
Christchurch: 11:00 am – 3:00 pm, Triangle Centre / Cathedral Square

Kiwi Tamils are also calling on the New Zealand government to work with the United National Security Council to implement United Nations run safe havens in northern Sri Lanka.
