Elections 2010: Now your Candidates

Calling All Local Candidates this is your chance to sale yourself to your Community.

The RePress is giving you a space to tell your idea or proposal if you will be elected in this coming Local Council Elections. You can email me at mico.santos@yahoo.com


On October 9, 2010, the local Council Elections will be held and will conducted by postal vote and is your chance to elect the members to represent you on the Wellington City Council and other local body organisations in the city.

Local body elections are held throughout the country every three years. The elections are held under the provisions of the Local Electoral Act 2001, the Local Electoral Regulations 2001 and the Local Government Act 2002.


Positions up for Election

Elections will be held for the following positions:( Wellington)

■Mayor (1)
■Councillors (14)
■Northern Ward (3 councillors)
■Onslow/Western Ward (3 councillors)
■Lambton Ward (3 councillors)
■Eastern Ward (3 councillors)
■Southern Ward (2 councillors)
■Tawa Community Board (6 members)
■Makara/Ohariu Community Board (6 members)

Elections will also be held for the following organisations:

■Greater Wellington Regional Council (7 members)
■Wellington Constituency (5 members)
■Porirua / Tawa Constituency (2 members)
■Capital and Coast District Health Board (7 members - elected from across the CCDHB district, that is, Wellington, Porirua and Kapiti local authority districts)
■Hutt Mana Charitable Trust (1 trustee for the Northern district of Wellington city)

Yesterday, I recieved a letter  from a candidate for the Wellington Southern Ward regarding his propasals if he is elected and I gonna post this letter tomorrow.
